4 HRT tools that show their assumptions

Every calculator in this category hides the arithmetic. These four print it. The cost calculator returns a first-year total across the 16 providers we price-verify and refuses to rank a per-visit fee against a monthly subscription. The symptom checker runs the published Menopause Rating Scale, an instrument with a validation history and printed cut-offs. The dosage chart carries 36 strengths read off FDA labels with a link to each one. The patch tracker shows which of the 13 menopause providers can ship a non-patch estrogen during the shortage.

Each card below says what the tool computes and what it does not know. That second line is the part other tools leave off, and it is usually the line that decides whether the answer is any use to you. No signup, no email gate, nothing stored.

Cost

HRT cost calculator

What it computes

A first-year total. Consult fees, required 12-month plans, three-month billing blocks and memberships that exclude medication all vanish from a monthly figure and all reappear in an annual one. It reads each provider's own published price structure across the 16 platforms we verify, keeps per-visit, per-month and average-only pricing in separate groups so they are never ranked against each other, and shows 8 documented year-one paths with the assumption set attached to each.

What it does not know

What your medication will cost at a provider that bills the drug separately. 6 platforms price the care and leave the prescription to your pharmacy, and none of them publishes a number we could verify, so the calculator refuses to invent one and labels those totals as care-only.

Symptoms

Menopause symptom checker (MRS)

What it computes

The published Menopause Rating Scale: 11 items scored 0 to 4, three subscale totals, and the severity band each score falls into using the cut-offs from the instrument's own validation study. Item wording is the published English form, quoted rather than rewritten.

What it does not know

Whether you are in perimenopause. The MRS measures how heavy your symptom burden is. It is a symptom questionnaire. It cannot diagnose anything, it is not a hormone test, and a high score is a reason to book a clinician rather than a result in itself.

Reference

HRT dosage chart

What it computes

36 labelled strengths across 14 FDA-approved estradiol, progesterone and testosterone products, each with the starting dose its own label states, the SPL effective date, a link to the label on DailyMed, and which providers on our roster dispense that form.

What it does not know

What dose you should take, and what your blood levels should be. It documents what the labels say. Serum reference ranges belong to the lab that ran your panel and appear on no drug label, so they are not published here.

Supply

Estradiol patch alternative tracker

What it computes

For each of the 13 menopause providers we score: whether they list estradiol patches at all, which non-patch estrogen forms their formulary names, and their Transparency Grade. 11 of the 13 list patches. The right-hand columns are the forms that are generally still in stock.

What it does not know

Whether your pharmacy can fill anything today. A formulary listing is not stock. The tracker reads what each provider publishes, and stock lives at the dispensing pharmacy, which publishes nothing.

Where to go next

A tool answers one question. If you want the ranked picture instead, the women's rankings cover all 13 menopause platforms by methodology score, the men's TRT rankings cover the second wing, and how much HRT costs is the same first-year cost data as a static table with the sourcing written out. The match quiz is the fastest route if you do not yet know which question you are asking.

None of these tools stores anything. Nothing you type is sent anywhere, and there is no email gate on any of them. We earn a commission when a reader signs up with some of the providers we list, disclosed on every page, and it never changes a score, a rank or a sort order.

This is general information, not medical advice. These tools estimate cost, record symptoms and document what drug labels say. They do not diagnose, they do not prescribe and they are no substitute for a licensed clinician. Reviewed by Iacob Pastina.
